Key Concepts

Gold Certificate Token (GCT)

  • Each GCT represents a unique gold bar.

  • Gold weight is recorded in Troy Ounce for standardization and precision.

  • Each GCT is a child inscription under the vendor root.

  • Each GCT includes a visible serial number and full metadata (stored as CBOR).

  • Visual representation can be delivered in any form, such as static images, animations, or 3D models, depending on the vendor's preference. Recursive HTML/JS is one recommended approach for dynamic and interactive experiences.

Inscription Hierarchy

  • Top-Level Inscription (Vendor Root): Each vendor must inscribe/use a parent inscription as their root identifier in the protocol.

  • GCT Inscriptions: All gold bar inscriptions (GCTs) are direct children of the vendor root inscription.

  • Any inscriptions, past or future, under the Vendor Root that do not follow the metadata standard are considered void.

Roles

  • Vendor: An entity that implements the protocol and creates/manages GCT inscriptions (e.g. marketplaces like trio.xyz).

  • Supplier: An entity that has the ability to tokenize real world assets, specifically physical gold. They offer partnerships with vendors to create and bring these tokenized assets to market. Suppliers also offer processes to enable the physical redeeming process of the gold bars.
